The Last Good Version of Acrobat You'll Ever See! May 12, 2010 After experiencing the hassle and the horror of trying Adobe Acrobat 6 and later, Acrobat 5 is a DREAM!
Acrobat 6 thru 9 are bloatware and do mean, horrible things. To paraphrase one earlier reviewer, versions of Adobe Acrobat after this version install like a herd of stampeding elephants, stepping on everything in your computer again and again.
I'm using Acrobat 5 with Office 2003. Yes, there is that ugly compatibility warning you get when starting Office 2003 applications, but all you need to do is this:
Simply remove pdfmaker.dot from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP
Printing to Acrobat PDFWriter with Acrobat 5 works flawlessly with Office 2003. The PDFs are created quickly, and with very small file size.
If I never need for any reason to buy another Acrobat product, it certainly won't be from Adobe. Acrobat 5 is the last great version. It's easy to install, requires no DRM, and once installed is completely non-intrusive and inactive when you aren't using it. I'm thankful for Acrobat 5 and am proud to say I Like It!

Operating System Matters! Jul 10, 2009 ACROBAT 5.0 DOES NOT RUN ON WINDOWS VISTA! This is disappointing because other older programs do, like Microsoft Windows 2003 and even some "homemade" programs written by hobbyists back in the days of DOS. Consequently I cannot fairly review Acrobat 5.0 other than to strongly advise prospective buyers NOT to purchase this version if they are running Vista. This piece of information needs to be prominently displayed alongside the systems Acrobat 5.0 does run on because opened software cannot be returned for a refund. Before you buy, contact Adobe to find out which version is right for your computer.
Excellent Value, great seller May 14, 2009 After reading the reviews I was confident that this seller would do honest business. They did exactly that. The product was exactly as described and arrived in a timely manner.
I would do business again with this seller.
And oldie, but goodie! Feb 02, 2009 I bought an older version of Adobe Acrobat for the sole purpose of creating PDF files. The CD arrived in great shape, installed on Windows XP perfectly, but the only complaint I have is due to this product's age, I can no longer open PDF files online within my web browser. But it's no big deal.
Acrobat 5.0 Jan 18, 2008 I was using Acrobat Exchange 2.0 and the 5.0 version is a definite step up. As a writer (http://secretsgolden.com/)Adobe Acrobat is necessary to my work. I wouldn't be without it, and v.5.0 is a very good program!
Thank you for reading!
