Great show, but AVOID THIS BOX SET AT ALL COSTS Jul 23, 2010
I bought this and this is NOT problem free. Some discs didn't play, some episodes have no visuals and/or sound for the first 20 minutes. Such a poor product for a great show.
Most problematic are seasons 4 and 5. Of course by the time you get to that point, you can't exchange anything from amazon (unless you are watching 5 episodes a day!), and are left trying to contact the manufacturers direct.

Had to watch missed episodes on-line, and buy the individual season in one case to compliment this poorly devised set. Clearly no-one quality checks.

Was a little apprehensive about purchasing this series, because there were a few buyers with defective discs, but luckily I received a flawless set. :-D I would have rated the series five stars, but found the characters Babette (Sally Struthers) and Miss Patty (Liz Torres) extremely annoying and unnecessary. I wish there were more shows like this. Enjoy!

This is a wonderful series that I missed when on TV, but am enjoying on rerun. What is nice about this story of the relationship between mother, daughter and grandmother is fun and clever. PG-13 level topics might be discussed or suggested delicately, making this a nice transition show from Sponge Bob. Stories interesting enough to keep the interest of adults with very smart writing.
