 Problems with Outlook 2007 with 2010 Upgrade Jul 27, 2010
I purchased this product for my new Windows 7 HP Quad-core i5 PC because the MS Office 2000 that I was using on my old Windows XP Dell PC, would not install at all. At first, it appeared that MS Outlook 2007 would be very good, but after awhile (after just 3 months), the RULES feature began going haywire. I lost the Rules for moving specific emails into specific folders. Now, they would either go into my Junk email or sit out on my mail server and JUST SIT THERE until I finally realized where they were! I used the free upgrade for 2010 and it just got worse from there. Now, I barely, if at all, get a lot of my emails. I have to go out to the server manually to see them on a daily basis. Microsoft, you are getting worse and worse in your development. If I could return this terrible product, I would. It is definitely NOT for the novice. I only gave this a 2-star because of my 15+ years of experience with Outlook, starting with Windows 95 and Outlook 97. This is such a great disappointment, I cannot begin to tell you everything this program has done to destroy my emails. BTW, I am a Computer guru and have been since 1984 when I had my first IBM Jr. I am a degreed professional Software Engineer, so it is not as if I don't know what I am talking about. I DO.
Beware buyers, of this product! Be sure to really investigate Outlook on MS's web site for FAQs and problems others have had BEFORE you purchase this product. I would recommend an alternative if you are a novice, like Pegasus or a FREEWARE alternative. This sealed it with me and Microsoft. I am getting rid of it all and going with Linux and other software alternatives.

I've been using MS Outlook 2010 Beta since it became available earlier this year and really like it. The Beta had a few bugs but MS will get it straightened out evenually. Anyway, I purchased the MS Outlook 2007 version because it was being offered at a lower price than normal and purchase included a free upgrade to MS Outlook 2010 when it becomes available. As of today (06/26/10) the offer is still valid and it is a good deal. Also, the 2010 version is available for download NOW. I have downloaded and installed the 2010 upgrade - it is a no hassle deal and installs clean - no problems. My advice: Buy the 2007 version at a discounted price and upgrade to 2010 for free. Amazon's free shipping makes the deal even better.
I gave the 2007 version 3 of 5 stars because I only bought it to get the discounted price and the included free upgrade to 2010. The 2010 version is better and has more features.

Exactly what I needed Jun 12, 2010
I had Outlook PST files from my last job that I couldn't view on my home computer. After googling to see if installing Outlook 2007 on my home PC would allow me open my files and not finding the answer in "black & white", I decided to go ahead and order MS Outlook 2007 due to my confidence in Amazon and the low price that I was able to obtain this product.
Not only did it install easily (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit), work with and interface with my personal email provider, but I was able to open my PST files with ease and now have the access I needed to emails from as far back as 2003!
If you are in the same situation or just need an easy interface to your emails, you can buy this product from Amazon with full confidence it will work for you.

Great until mail reception fails Jun 08, 2010
I got Outlook 2007 with Office 2007. As the title of my complaint states, the software seemed wonderful at first. I especially liked its capability to set up accounts. After about five months, however, reception of email became spotty, then failed altogether. A reinstallation of Office, which happened when I upgraded to Windows 7, 64-bit, got Outlook back in operation for about two more months. Microsoft's answer seems to be to sell a new version of Office. At least a stand-alone of Outlook 2010 is available. I will have to check to see whether it works with Office 2007. Stay tuned...
