Collectors Edition is not Restored May 14, 2010 The Little Rascals Collector's Edition Boxed Set - 87 Episodes to me was a disappointment because they are DVD-R and the packaging is very poor - they are on DVD-R and are slid into plastic sleeves which can scratch these discs easy. The sleeves have a 2 hole punch with a binder type post holding them (all the top holes where broke when I received this set so they are holding on by one hole) I will have to buy jewel cases to better keep these if I want them to last.
I don't see where these episodes were restored in any way because I am seeing a lot of spots, specks, and changing brightness. To make these a restored version, it would take a great deal of time and work and would probably cost over $100 not the $30 I paid.
This Collector's Edition was bought through another vendor at Amazon (not Amazon), so I am wondering if it isn't a counterfeit copy now that I see the quality of packaging and they were burned on DVD-R format (the read side is a dark purple color not a silver color).

Disappointing video and audio quality May 12, 2010 For the hard-core Rascals fan, stay away. The video and audio quality of the VHS Cabin Fever collection are far superior to what is on these disks. It's not even close. If you are looking to save space and don't care about high-quality video, these disks may be for you. For everyone else, hold on to your Cabin Fever VHSs.

All Cut From The Same Cloth May 08, 2010 First of all, I must admit that I am a life long fan of the Our Gang films. Over 20 years ago I scoured every video store within 25 miles to copy any and all episodes I could get my hands on. I managed to collect 18 hours worth of episodes that have served me until recently. When the series was released legitimatly by Cabin Fever on VHS in the 90s, I almost jumped at the chance to get one, but I figured that the age of DVDs would soon take over and the series would go to disk. Well, I was half right. Cabin Fever released 48 episodes on a 6 DVD set which covered the first 12 VHS tapes with a pending release to finish what they started. Well, Cabin Fever went out of business and the whole catalogue went into limbo. A couple of years ago the series was picked up by Genius products with a release that did not live up to it's company's name. It is an 8 DVD set of 80 episodes which covered all the talkies some of which used inferior prints and had edits on some of the films. It was also released in chronological order which would definitly be not my choice, especially after reading some of the reviews and it's very pricey. Soon after that there were a slew of 11 disk sets that started popping up all over the market. It was obvious the films had fallen into public domain and bacame a free for all for anyone to put out. And that's exactly what happened. I decided to go for a cheap set that sounded promising and boasted remastered sound and picture, but there were problems from the start. The films all had original title cards which was a big plus for me. However it seemed that the films started and stopped very suddenly. The end music started and got cut off by the next films music. This was very annoying to me and returned the set only to buy this set which boasted the exact same problems. The same masters are being used to produce all of these cheap reissues and all are bootlegs. I suspect they did this in order to erase the MGM logo which graces all the films in the beginning. It just did'nt have to be like this. With a little more care this could have been a great release. With all these problems, I will give this set 3 stars. The packaging is as cheap as can be. The only saving grace here is the fact that sound and picture quality is very good. It was also very cheap. Maybe someday these films will get the respect they deserve, but with all these cheap sets around it does'nt look like that will happen very soon. Go for one of these cheap sets until something better comes along.

good fun, but definitely not 5 stars Apr 26, 2010 Enjoyed this set but I don't understand all these 5 star reviews. The quality of the so-called "remasters" (if, indeed, they have been remaster) is okay, but nothing to get excited about. Each episode begins and ends quite abruptly in mid-note of whatever music might be playing, and there is absolutely no break whatsoever between the individual episodes. I do realize that these films are 70+ years old so I wasn't expecting perfection, but I have seen plenty of other films from this era that were remastered with outstanding results.
For the money and the entertainment value this is a great set--just don't set your expectations too high.
And could someone please explain to me what "interactive DVD motion menus" are?! As far as I can figure out it just means that you can go to the menu screen and choose which episode you want to watch. What's so special about that?
